For Caregivers
At Behavioural Referrals Veterinary Practice, we focus on your pets emotional health as well as physical. We understand that when caregivers identify a change in their pet’s behaviour it can be very distressing, and our team will do all they can to assist you during your journey with us.
We believe that teamwork is the key to success, and we work very closely with the caregiver, the referring vet, and the pet to offer practical solutions. Once the cause of the behavioural problem has been identified and the initial behavioural treatment plan has been designed by the vet, the team of rehabilitation skills coaches will be actively involved in helping you carry out the programme. Implementing a behavioural modification programme is not a ‘quick fix’ and therefore requires a lot of hard work from the caregiver as well during the follow up stages. The rehabilitation team are there to help support you through sessions, with implementing the plan.
We cannot place a definitive time scale on how long behavioural treatment may take to show results. Some animals may require ongoing support throughout their lives, while others might improve within 12 to 24 months. Each case is entirely unique and dependent on the individual animal’s needs.
Follow up support is crucial to the success of behavioural treatment.
